Micro-blogging site Twitter down worldwide!

Filipinos using the micro-blog site Twitter were unable to access their accounts or follow other Twitter users Saturday night, due to what a monitoring site said could be a likely service disruption.

Since 9 p.m. (Manila time), many sites - including Twitter's home page - were inaccessible on the Internet.

"Twitter may be experiencing issues right now," said the monitoring site DownRightNow as of 9:56 p.m.

Although Twitter has yet to provide an official statement as of 11:00 p.m., there are unconfirmed reports that the outage is affecting users in several countries.

DownRightNow explained that its assessment of Twitter's service is a product of constant monitoring of user reports as well as official announcements.

The website indicated the latest widespread service disruption on Twitter occurred at 9:02 p.m. (Manila time).

Also, its status history indicated that Twitter may have encountered service disruption as early as 3 p.m., although the service resumed after three hours.

Like many Netizens, Filipinos use Twitter to update friends on their status, and to follow the status of their friends and other personalities they follow. -
